Longer short-time compensation for the strong Swiss franc

Due to the ongoing strength of the franc, the Federal Council has adjusted the conditions for short-time work compensation.

Usually law (AVIG) provides short-labor compensation for a maximum period of 12 months, while in the first six months two days must be worn by the employer himself and even three days from the seventh month on.

Because of the weakening of the export sector due to the continuing strength of the franc, the Federal Council decided to extend the maximum period to 18 months and to reduce the waiting period to one day per month. This provision shall apply from 1 February 2016 to 31 July 2017.
